Plantar Fasciitis

Heel pain is a potentially disruptive and very common condition that is caused by many factors, including arthritis, cysts, tendonitis, nerve irritation, stress fractures, and most often, plantar fasciitis. The plantar fasciitis condition develops when the tissue that attaches your toes and heel becomes inflamed. Here at Bergenfield Podiatry, Dr. David Kuchar alleviates heel pain so you don't have to suffer anymore.

There are various symptoms of this condition with the most common ones being:
- Severe pain and swelling near your heel
- Inability to bend your foot downward, rise on your toes or walk normally
- Severe heel pain immediately after an injury
- Tingling in your heel

Your fascia ligament can tighten up while you sleep and lead to intense pain in the morning. As your tissue warms up, the pain typically decreases, however, it can return if you stand for long periods of time, bear weight on your foot, or participate in physical activity. Heel pain often goes away on its own with home care, but if you experience enough pain to cause you discomfort, you should visit our office.

Our podiatrist, Dr. David Kuchar may recommend custom foot orthotics or new shoes to relieve your pain and restore overall function. During a consultation, the doctor will review your health history and give you a thorough examination testing your balance, reflexes, muscle tone, muscle strength, and coordination of your foot. They may recommend an x-ray or MRI to exclude other pain-related sources like a bone spur, pinched nerve or stress fracture, but less invasive techniques are always practiced first.

If you are suffering from plantar fasciitis heel pain, please give us a call to discuss your treatment options.
